Families were invited to a fun packed day at Aylsham Fun Barns and with around 500 people coming through the door the event was a huge success.
During the celebration event, families were able to enjoy a wide range of workshops and craft activities, including creating fabulous flowers from recycled materials, minibeast homes, paper kites and windmills and healthy fruit kebabs and layered desserts. Also on offer were a colouring competition, decorating butterflies, making a collage and a chance to try some African drumming.
Many of the community partners that the Aylsham Cluster of Schools work with throughout the year were part of this fantastic day, including Aylsham Library, Broadland Tots2Teens, Adult Education, the Jubilee Family Centre, Aylsham Pre-School Playgroup and Norfolk Wildlife Trust.
Year 7 students from Aylsham High School were responsible for making a wide selection of delicious and professional looking biscuits and cakes for sale.
The event was made possible through the sponsorship received from Aylsham Rotary. The venue for the day, Aylsham Fun Barns, was provided free of charge. We would like to say a big thank you to Aylsham Rotary and to Aylsham Fun Barns for their support.
MONICA HARDING, FAMILY LEARNING CO-ORDINATOR
Monica Harding has become a very recognisable face within our schools. She has worked extremely hard to find and organise interesting sessions for families throughout the cluster. Monica meets regularly with Headteachers to ensure that the Family Learning sessions are targeted to meet the interest of local families. Monica is also responsible for evaluating the sessions and for listening to family members taking part, again to ensure that future sessions are planned to be of interest. Monica is also a very welcome face at the start of sessions, especially for parents and other family members who may not have been into school before or who may be reluctant to come back into school for the first time for many years.
